A Meeting of Cultures in Jakarta: Turkish Cuisine Takes the Stage in Asia

At the "Meeting of Cultures" event held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, we—as the National Cuisine Movement (Milli Mutfak Movement)—showcased the deep-rooted heritage and unique flavors of Turkish cuisine under the leadership of Dr. Mehmet Selman Bayındır.
Through our traditional dishes and regional delicacies, we shared the abundance of our tables, the hospitality of Anatolia, and the historical depth of our culinary culture with the attendees. By recounting the stories behind each dish, we contributed to the cultural ties between Turkey and Indonesia.
Öner Çulfaz, President of the National Cuisine Movement, shared the following message regarding the event:
“Turkish cuisine is a shared legacy of hard work, the act of sharing, and brotherhood—passed down through generations. As the National Cuisine Movement, we consider it our mission to carry this heritage across the globe and to preserve our regional values for future generations.
I would like to thank Dr. Mehmet Selman Bayındır, who spearheaded our efforts in Jakarta, as well as all our dedicated chefs, the organizing team, and the people of Indonesia, who welcomed us with such sincerity. We will continue to build bridges of friendship between cultures through our tables.”
One nation at a single table; brotherhood at the very same table…
